What is the process of serological (antibody) testing?

For testing, blood is drawn from a fingertip by our qualified COVID testing personnel wearing the required protective equipment.

A serological (antibody) test result can be the following:

  • Negative: You are not infected or 5 days have not passed since the infection.
  • Only IgM is positive: This antibody can be detected between approx 5 and 21 days of infection. If it is positive, you may be contagious at this time.
  • Only IgG is positive: after about 28 days, IgM is no longer detectable, but IgG can be detected for approx half a year or more. At this time, you are likely to have persistent immunity and have already undergone COVID. In this case, you are no longer contagious.
  • IgM and IgG positive: The presence of both antibodies and thus the combined positivity is expected approx between 14 and 28 days. Then you are most likely an infected person who may still contagious.
